She was assigned to the Department of Health in Honolulu Hawaii as an EIS officer and served for 2 years. The next course in her career took her back to San Antonio to continue working in Family Medicine with the University of Texas Health Science Center and the Department of Community Medicine.

She later opened her own practice, Rainbow Family Health, to continue patient care in San Antonio. During that time, she also took a nine-month course in acupuncture and added that to her medical practice. In 2014, and she decided to take advantage of the chance to move back to Hawaii, accepting a position working at Molokai General Hospital and Outpatient Clinic on Molokai. She worked on Molokai from Jan 2015 to May 2019, when she moved to Honolulu to join the wonderful staff at the Lavender Clinic.

Dr. Burr is committed to providing medical care to all underserved people, especially the transgender community, as she knows all too well the difficulties trans people have finding appropriate medical services where they are respected and understood. Dr. Burr is most grateful for her family, especially her 2 adult sons, including one that lives in Honolulu. She loves running and has competed in numerous marathons in San Antonio, Honolulu, Kauai and Havana, Cuba.
